This specimen was lot 21185 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $2,937.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Escudos, 1848-CaRG. PCGS AU-55 Secure Holder. Fr-68; KM-383.1. An attractive straight graded branch mint issue. Fully original and with a remarkable amount of original undisturbed lustrous surface. Elusive, especially in the CHOICE ALMOST UNCIRCULATED condition seen here."
