This specimen was lot 71237 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Escudo, 1863-MoCH. NGC MS-64. Fr-107; KM-378.5. 1863/57 overdate which is very clear on the 6/5, and which also exhibits a CH/GF over-assayer (Overdate and overassayer not noted on NGC label). Second finest certified at NGC or PCGS. Quite attractive with silky luster, a prime example for the variety specialist."
