This specimen was lot 21217 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), where it sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/4 Real (Quartilla), 1847-MoLR. PCGS AU-58 Secure Holder. cf.KM-368.6 (unlisted date). VERY RARE. A cute issue with increased desirability as the added fact that this mint and date combination were previously unlisted. The "7" in the date appears to be from an altered inverted "1" punch. Bold portrait with attractive toning."
