This specimen was lot 21196 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), where it sold for $5,170. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Escudos, 1851-GCMP. NGC MS-60. Fr-71; KM-383.6. RARE mint and date in any grade. Second to last year of issue. Well struck with good definition of the details. Highly lustrous in the protected areas with light wispy hairlines in the open fields consistent with the grade now somewhat subdued. Quite the treat for the specialist of Republican issues and sure to find a happy new home."
