This specimen was lot 41227 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2019), where it sold for $9,000. The catalog description[1] noted, "A Second Very Rare Hermosillo Mint Gold Peso, The Finest Certified Example. MEXICO. Peso, 1888-Ho G. Hermosillo Mint. NGC MS-63. Fr-162; KM-410.4. Final year of a three year type. Sharp in the centers with few marks over the surfaces and lovely reflective qualities in the fields. One area of notable softness appears near MEXICANA and die adjustment lines, likely the reason for the softness, appear on the opposite side. Overall, a rather presentable example of this VERY RARE date/mint combination; unpriced in the Standard Catalog of World Coins and presently unmatched in quality at either NGC or PCGS. A coin that is certain to attract attention from the specialist collector as such."
listed in KM as 1888-HoG/MoM. also 1875-76, both rare.
