This specimen was lot 39437 in Stack's Bowers Winter sale (Baltimore, November 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1862/1-PiRO. NGC AU-58. KM-377.12; DP-Pr49. Round "6". VERY SCARCE. Stands alone as the finest seen at both NGC and PCGS. A touch of wear evident through the eagle's head and wings, but with no measurable wear on the obverse aside from perhaps a bit of strike weakness on the cap. Splendid silvery overall color with hints of very dark crimson clinging to the wreath. A coin sure to enhance the prestige of the collection it enters, and destined to be a favorite of the coin's new owner."
