This specimen was lot 31334 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $8,700. The catalog description[1] noted, "Philip V gold Cob 4 Escudos 1715 Mo-J AU58 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM 55.2, Cal-235. 24 mm/13.3 g. Technically Mint State quality, but slightly granular from prolonged saltwater exposure, with a clear mintmark, but most importantly, a highly legible date, with '715' appearing in full between 9 and 10 o'clock along the edges. Much rarer than the 1714 date due the number of examples that were recovered from the 1715 Plate Fleet shipwreck; certain to be intensely sought by the specialist collector as a result. Ex. 1715 Plate Fleet. Selections from the Isaac Rudman Numismatic Cabinet."
