This specimen was lot 31318 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $2,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "Philip V gold Cob Escudo 1706 MXo-J AU58 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM 51.1, Cal-Type 105 (Unlisted Date). Despite the window of visible detail on the obverse being small, the 'MXo' mintmark and 'J' assayer is sharp and the final two digits of the date, an '06', become apparent upon close inspection. Amazingly, the reverse cross is nearly full. Unlisted as a date in the Calico and Standard Catalog of World Coin references; extremely rare. Selections from the Isaac Rudman Numismatic Cabinet."
