This specimen was lot 31291 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $1,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "Charles & Johanna "Late Series" 2 Reales ND (1542-57) G-Mo AU55 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM0012, Cal-Unl., Nesmith-41. 30 mm/6.7 g. Very handsome quality, displaying choice tone, a bold strike and a broad flan that displays full legends; a few small flan cracks are noted for accuracy's sake. Highly desirable not only as a slightly scarcer type, but also because this issue was the first to display the 'o' over 'M' Mexico City mintmark which is still being used to this day. Ex.
