This specimen was lot 31391 in Heritage sale 3041 (Chicago, August 2015), where it sold for $7,050. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ferdinand VII gold 4 Escudos 1811 Mo-HJ AU58 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM 145, Cal-155. A most attractive coin, borderline Mint State with considerable luster in the fields, slight high-point friction defining the grade and only moderate handling evidence. A slightly weak strike appears on the crown on the reverse, yet significantly better struck than the vast majority of the observed specimens of this date: probably the result of a defective mint press, said softness of strike is also seen in the Eliasberg (ANR 4/2005, lot 3223) and Caballero de las Yndias (Aureo 4/2009, lot 436) specimens. Among the very finest seen of this scarce three-year type, conditionally very rare and desirable in this select quality. Currently the single finest specimen certified by NGC of the type and worthy of sustained bidding attention. From The Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins."
