This specimen was lot 31245 in Heritage sale 3041 (Chicago, August 2015), where it sold for $2,232.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Charles III gold 8 Escudos 1773 Mo-FM AU53 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM 156.1, Onza-761. The scarcest date of this two-year subtype. Partially lustrous and attractively toned, with limited wear on the higher points defining the grade. Very scarce in this quality and a good type coin for this short-lived issue. From The Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins."
