This specimen was lot 31177 in Heritage sale 3041 (Chicago, August 2015), where it sold for $5,875. The catalog description[1] noted, "Charles III gold 2 Escudos 1765 Mo-MF XF40 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM 129, Cal-466. Choice for the designation with gorgeous old toning including quite striking magenta hues, good detail throughout and unusually attractive surfaces. A more attractive piece in this very scarce technical grade for the type would be hard to imagine! The nicest example of the date noted by the cataloguer, and the only one currently listed in NGC's population report. From The Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins."
