This specimen was lot 31119 in Heritage sale 3041 (Chicago, August 2015), where it sold for $8,812.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ferdinand VI gold 4 Escudos 1756 Mo-MM AU55 NGC, Mexico city mint, KM 138, Cal-113. A very lustrous coin, rather sharply struck for this type and with attractive even reddish color. Some mild handling marks are present - mostly visible on the reverse - as expected for the designation, yet a truly exceptional representative of the date and, in fact, of the entire 1752-1756 type. Currently the single finest certified example for the aforementioned type, and a strong candidate for the finest known of the date (the cataloguer notes it is clearly sharper than the Norweb example (Christie's Dallas 5/1985, lot 48), thus a coin that should attract sustained bidding competition. From The Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins."
