This specimen was lot 31052 in Heritage sale 3041 (Chicago, August 2015), where it sold for $4,465. The catalog description[1] noted, "Philip V gold 4 Escudos 1741 Mo-MF AU50 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM 135, Cal-247. A sharply detailed and considerably lustrous coin - as expected for the designation - with two small areas of planchet roughness to the right of the bust on the obverse mentioned for accuracy purposes and the usual handling marks as this grade level. Overall, a most pleasing representative of this elusive series, very rare and desirable in this engaging preservation. The specialist will also undoubtedly rate this a better date, noting that it was missing in the Norweb and Gerber holdings and that Burzio could not trace any offerings of it, while the Eliasberg example was a cleaned VF coin. From The Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins."
