This specimen was lot 30330 in Heritage sale 3037 (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $4,465. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic Caps and Rays 8 Reales 1862 Ga-JG AU58 PCGS, Guadalajara mint, KM 377.6, DP-Ga44 ("Excessively Rare"). A well struck example and choice for the designation since essentially Mint State with no discernible friction evidence in the higher points and fully lustrous surfaces. Very possibly the finest known of this very rare date."
