This specimen was lot 31321 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $5,287.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 20 Pesos 1870 Cn-E MS63 NGC, Culiacan mint, KM 414.2, Fr-122. A well struck and most attractive coin of the first date of gold 20 Pesos struck at Culiacan, in Choice Mint State with reflective surfaces. This specimen will undoubtedly attract strong interest since in a rarely encountered preservation: it is currently tied with one other coin as the highest certified example by NGC.
