This specimen was lot 31254 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $7,343.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 8 Escudos 1828 Go-MJ MS61 NGC, Guanajuato mint, KM383.7, Fr-72. Mint State with the expected handling marks for the designation, but a well struck, very lustrous and attractive example. The first date of the Guanajuato mint and a very rare one (Long indicates "extremely rare" and lists 6 or 7 specimens), much more so in this quality. An important opportunity for the specialist. From The Valle de la Rana Collection."
