This specimen was lot 23644 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $111,625. The catalog description[1] noted, "A Marvelous Taler in Gold of Ten Ducats' Weight Lubeck. Free City gold 10 Ducats 1752-JJJ, KM-Pn25, Fr-1499, Dav-2420 (in silver), Specimen 63 PCGS. Obv. Crowned double-headed eagle with "48" denomination on chest and shield of the mayor Heinrich Rust below. Rev. City arms set on ornate cartouche decorated with palm and laurel branches. Struck from taler (48 schilling) dies and extremely rare as an emission in gold, with surfaces that maintain full prooflike reflectivity in the fields and a design that highlights every intended detail at optimal sharpness. A premium quality piece for the grade and a coin that is certain to appeal to a collector of the highest echelon."
