This specimen was lot 968 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €20,000 (about US$26,956 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"LIPPE, GRAFSCHAFT, Simon Heinrich, 1666-1697. Doppelter Reichstaler 1685, Detmold. 57.93 g. SIMON HENR · GRAF VND EDLER · H · ZVR LIPP Brustbild r. mit umgelegtem Mantel//NEC TEMERE · NEC TIMIDE Ovales, vierfeldiges Wappen von zwei Löwen gehalten, oben Krone, zu den Seiten die geteilte Signatur I - H (Johann Hoffmann, Münzmeister in Detmold 1671-1695), unten Lorbeerzweige und die Jahreszahl 16 - 85. Dav-6898; Grote 154 Anm. Von größter Seltenheit. Attraktives Exemplar, kl. Randfehler, sehr schön. (county of Lippe, Simon Henry, 1666-97, double thaler of 1685, Detmold mint. Obverse: draped bust right; reverse: crowned, quartered arms supported by two lions, palm fronds and date below. Very rare, attractive example, some rim bumps, very fine.)"
