This specimen was lot 31233 in Heritage sale 3037 (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $10,575. The catalog description[1] noted, "Vittorio Emanuele III gold 50 Lire 1936 MS65 NGC, KM 82, Fr-37, Pagani-661 (R2). Tied for the finest graded by NGC, with no examples having been seen by PCGS. Not only is this coin in Gem Mint State condition, but it has the illustrious Eliasberg pedigree, which surely adds a premium to its value. Essentially no flaws or marks worth mentioning, with very good detail for this type struck in low relief that often wears easily. As desirable of an example of this type that one could ever hope to find. Ex. Eliasberg Collection. From The Alexander Collection."
