This specimen was lot 3087 in Goldberg sale 98 (Los Angeles, June 2017), where it sold for $793.12. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ireland. Groat, 1557. S.6501B. Mary and Philip, 1554-1558. Obverse; Facing portraits of the two monarchs. Reverse; Crowned Irish harp with initials P and M to left and right. Exquisite detail on this (usually) poorly made coin. Very sharp in parts, superb portraits and some original mint luster. NGC graded AU-50. WINGS. It was during this reign that the power of the English crown was increased by the settlement of English farmers in central Ireland in the area to the east of Dublin. The silver content of the groats and shillings shipped to Ireland fell to about 25% fineness, and the overall minting quality was poor."
