This specimen was lot 6710 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $1,527.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "HUNGARY. Taler, 1555-KB. Kremnitz Mint. Ferdinand I (1526-64). NGC AU Details--Removed from Jewelry. Dav-8032; Huszar-913. Good full strike with no muddling or doubling and leaving bold legends and clear detail to finely rendered bust and eagle. As noted there is some small evidence of former mounting but overall far more original surfaces than are normally encountered with former jewelry pieces. Light even wear consistent with the grade tier and no significant contact marks. Light gray tone returning and quite appealing. From the Mezo-Toth Kalman Collection."
