This specimen was lot 6659 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $940. The catalog description[1] noted, "GUATEMALA. 1/2 Real, 1787-NG M. Charles III (1759-88). NGC MS-64. KM-32.2a; Cal-Type 171 #1686. A sparkling little jewel struck during the final year of this denomination for Charles III in Guatemala. Crisply struck leaving behind frosty white luster with just a touch of old envelope toning developing at the rims. The finest certified example by a full two points."
