This specimen was lot 30972 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $2,115. The catalog description[1] noted, "Central American Republic gold 1/2 Escudo 1843 NG-M MS63 NGC, Nueva Guatemala mint, KM5. A Choice Mint State and rather lustrous specimen of this rare key date. Uncirculated examples are undoubtedly very rare: only a few such pieces have been certified by either 3rd party grading service, despite this being a wildly popular series. The current example is currently the 2nd finest certified piece and as such, it represents important opportunity for the connoisseur."
