This specimen was lot 24439 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $16,450. The catalog description[1] noted, "Central American Republic gold 2 Escudos 1834 NG-M, KM 12, Fr-28, MS61 NGC. A rather weak strike on the tree side, but otherwise a wonderful specimen with reddish tone and much luster. An extremely rare coin, being the finest of only two known to the cataloger. Prior to its sale in the Norweb auction, this date was unrecorded in all references. Missing in Haberthuer and Eliasberg. One of the key dates for this series. Ex.
