This specimen was lot 29989 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $2,350. The catalog description[1] noted, "Elizabeth II 'VIP' Proof 5 Shillings (Crown) 1953 PR67 Deep Cameo PCGS, Royal Mint, KM894, S-4136. Deeply mirrored in the fields, with thick frost on all the details and light golden tone over both sides. A popular coronation issue, with only a very small number produced in this exceptional, heavily frosted edition with the extreme field polishing that produces such extraordinary cameo appearance. Even though PCGS has failed to label this as the 'VIP' Proof, anyone versed in British coins will easily recognize the difference between this example and the normal 1953 Crown. The finest example of this rare type we have seen."
