This specimen was lot 30026 in Heritage sale 3040 (Chicago, April 2015), where it sold for $2,350. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria gold Sovereign 1856 MS64 NGC, Royal mint, KM 736.1, S-3852D. Remarkable for the date, and currently the single finest example graded by NGC, with bright mint bloom remaining over both sides and intricate striking details. Truly clean surfaces further boosts the eye-appeal, delivering the appearance of a full Gem. An important coin for the collector of sovereigns by date. From The Law Collection."
