This specimen was lot 31114 in Heritage sale 3037 (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $54,050. The catalog description[1] noted, "A Remarkable Toned Anne gold 5 Guineas 1713 MS61 NGC, Royal mint, KM 521, S-3568, DVODECIMO. Deep red toning shouts originality with this coin. The only Mint State example of the date handled by either NGC or PCGS. An absolutely stunning piece with some of the most attractive gold toning we have ever come across. Though there are essentially no comparables of this date that have been sold recently, it may be worth noting the 1711 5 guinea that Heritage sold in its August, 2014 Platinum Night auction. The 1711 date is given an equal value as the 1713 5 guinea in the Standard Catalog of British Coins. In our August auction, we sold an MS62+ example of the 1711 for a hammer price of $130,000 off of a pre-sale estimate of $30,000-$40,000. While the present coin is still 1.5 points lower than that one, it is hard to tell whether that small of a spread will really make any significant difference in the final price realized. As it stands, this is still a conditionally exceptional piece with superb eye appeal and should attract strong bidding."
