Great_Britain_1718_shilling_obv_H3032-24947.jpg(450 × 435 pixels, file size: 69 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

This specimen was lot 24947 in Heritage sale 3032 (Chicago, April 2014), where it sold for $1,175. The catalog description[1] noted, "George I Shilling 1718, S-3645, 1st Laureate Bust, Roses & Plumes reverse, MS65 NGC, a stunning gem of a shilling, the surfaces immaculate with satiny, silvery luster as white as a snowflake on the obverse and showing a hint of gold toning on the reverse. There is a tiny stain on the 4th shield on the reverse, otherwise this coin is essentially perfect. Minted in 1718. Wow!"
