This specimen was lot 21036 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $4,700. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Portuguese India. Goa. 12 Xerafins, 1795. NGC MS-63. Fr-1487; KM-187; Gomes-41.08. Krause catalog value exceeding $5,500 in (Very Fine), with the example offered here tied with one additional piece at NGC for finest graded. The quality of the flan alone sets it apart from nearly all other known examples. A magnificent example of this crudely struck issue sporting bold devices and buoyant gleaming luster."
