This specimen was lot 33110 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $940. The catalog description[1] noted, "Empire Mark 1880-D MS64 NGC, Munich mint, KM 7. One of the better dates/mintmarks in the series--especially at this level of Mint State--showcasing graphite tone that clings to the obverse eagle motif and a reverse that expresses an irregular pattern of argent and blue-gray color. Visually superb and with a matching technical quality to boot. From the Reverend Dr. James G.K. McClure Collection."
