This specimen was lot 31202 in Heritage sale 3073 (Chicago, April 2019), where it sold for $4,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "William IV gold 1/2 Sovereign 1837 MS63 NGC, KM 722, S-3831. Blazing with tiger's eye luster, a fully choice specimen which needs to be seen to be believed. Whilst many William IV Half Sovereigns retain some degree mint luster, this piece leaves them by the wayside, appearing as if freshly struck yesterday; besides some light contact marks it is essentially perfect. A wonder coin of near-unbeatable quality. From the Lake County Collection."
