This specimen was lot 3212 in Goldberg sale 78 (Los Angeles, January 2014), where it sold for $1,351. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. Halfcrown, 1828. S.3809; KM-695. George IV. This is the rarest date in the short 'bare head' Halfcrown series (1825-1829). Especially elusive in top grades this specimen is well struck with a light mauve patina over crisp surfaces. Uncirculated, Details (Surface Hairlines)."
