This specimen was lot 20307 in Ponterio sale 176 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $1,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. George III, 1760-1820. Half-Guinea, 1781. S-3734; Fr-361; KM-605. Fourth laureate bust right. Rv. Crowned quartered shield with arms. Issued for twelve years. This hair style was a great improvement on the earlier two-year type. Lustrous and frosty. Another perfect type coin for an advanced set of British gold coins. NGC MS-63. Ex: Lubbock, 1983."
