This specimen was lot 30669 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $4,700. The catalog description[1] noted, "Frankfurt. Free City - Joseph II gold Coronation 1-1/4 Ducat 1764 MS65 PCGS, KM238, Fr-1014. A rare type, struck for the coronation of Joseph II as Holy Roman Emperor, and preserved in nearly unfathomable quality with minimal blemishes inside the glinting prooflike fields and pleasing cameo-producing frost atop the central obverse motif. A near-perfect strike only serves to compliment this truly impressive piece. Overall, historically intriguing and perfect for the collector of top quality items. From The Lexington Collection of Jonathan K. Kern."
