This specimen was lot 20450 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2019), where it sold for $2,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "[[France|FRANCE]. Louis d'Or, 1694-D. Lyon Mint. Louis XIV. PCGS MS-61 Gold Shield. Fr-433; KM-302.3; Gad-252. Lustrous with a few marks but no hairlines. Struck on a new blank, there is no trace of undertype. Rare thus, listed as "R3" in Gadoury vs. "C" for the restruck variety. This type, known as a louis d'or aux 4 L, was struck 1693-1700, mostly over older coins. Twenty-four mints contributed in 1694."
