This specimen was lot 70468 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $780. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Ecu, 1772. Pau Mint. Louis XV (1715-74). NGC MS-61. Dr/2 no. 821a, Dr/4 no. 589, Dupl-1685; Ci-2129; Gad-323a, KM 555, Dav-A1332. An écu du Béarn à la vieille tête struck at the Pau mint (cow mintmark). Adjustment marks on both sides but less obnoxious than usual; very lustrous with nice toning."
Dr/2 no. 589a, Dr/4 no. 821a, m. 1,311,492 most common date of this mint and type but still a better date.
