This specimen was lot 20201 in Stack's Bowers 2018 NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $3,360. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Louis d'Or, 1694-W. Lille Mint Louis XIV (1643-1715). NGC MS-64. Fr-433; KM-302.20; Gad-252. "louis d'or aux quarter L" from a type struck on new and old blanks 1693-1700. Single finest certified example at either NGC or PCGS. This is a slightly better date of one of the more common louis d'or types of Louis XIV.
