This specimen was lot 20177 in Stack's Bowers 2018 NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $2,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Ecu d'Or, ND (1515-47). Nantes Mint. Francis I. NGC MS-62. Fr-364; Dupl-790. "écu d'or au soleil de Bretagne, deuxiéme type" struck at Nantes for François I. Struck on a nice round flan with a few weak spots but full legends on both sides. Soft satin luster and quite good eye appeal."

issued at Rennes and Nantes in Brittany. 3.43 g, .958 fine, 40 s. t. issued probably 1519-40.
