This specimen was lot 2390 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $4,347.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Louis d'Or, 1670/69-D. Lyon Mint. Louis XIV (1643-1715). NGC MS-64. Fr-421; KM-200.3; Gad-246; Dupl-1425; Ciani-1789; cf.Droulers-309; DFW-191. Short truncation which stops before legend. Slightly weak in centers but struck on highly lustrous metal which still gives full cartwheel glow. No detracting marks or wear. Quite attractive."
