This specimen was lot 914 in Jean Elsen sale 131 (Brussels, December 2016), where it sold for €__ (about US$___ including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"FRANCE, Royaume, Louis XV (1715-1774), double sol de billon, 1740C, Caen. D/ L couronné, entre trois lis. R/ L cursif et orné, croisé d'un rameau, sous une couronne. Dupl. 1690; Dr. 859. 1,23 g Rare. Très Beau. (kingdom of France, Louis XV (1715-74), double sol in billon of 1740, Caen mint. Obverse: crowned "L" between three lilies; reverse: ornate script "L", wreath around, crown above. Rare, very fine..)"
