This specimen was lot 1388 in Jean Elsen sale 127 (Brussels, December 2015), where it sold for €360 (about US$462 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"FRANCE, Royaume, Louis XV (1715-1774), AV louis d'or aux lunettes, 1740L, Bayonne. D/ B. drapé à g., tête nue. R/ Ecus ovales de France et de Navarre sous une couronne. Dupl. 1640; Gad-340. 8,03 g Rare Griffes. A été montée. Beau à Très Beau. (kingdom of France, Louis XV, 1715-74, louis d'or of the spectacles of 1740, Bayonne mint. Obverse: draped bust to left; reverse: oval arms of France and Navarre, crown above. Rare, scratches, has been mounted, fine to very fine.)"
