This specimen was lot 1442 in Jean Elsen sale 141 (Brussels, June 2019), where it sold for €850 (about US$1,127 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"FRANCE, Royaume, Louis XV (1715-1774), AV double louis d'or au bandeau, 1755L, Bayonne. D/ T. à g., ceinte d'un bandeau. R/ Ecus ovales de France et de Navarre sous une couronne. Dupl-1642; Gad-346; Fr-463. 16,17 g Rare Traces d'ajustage. Très Beau. (kingdom of France, Louis XV, 1715-74, gold double louis of the ribbon of 1755, Bayonne mint. Obverse: head left, hair tied in a ribbon; reverse: oval arms of France and Navarre below a crown. Rare, adjustment marks, Very Fine.)"
Dr/4 no. 792, Dr/2 no. 542, Fr-463, 16.31 g, .917 fine gold, 28-29 mm diameter, reeded edge, struck 1742-74, face value 48 livres. 1755-L: m. 15,079, TTB 1500 vs. 1200 for 1755-AA, 1250 for 1760-BB.
