This specimen was lot 1406 in Jean Elsen sale 141 (Brussels, June 2019), where it sold for €1,700 (about US$2,253 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"FRANCE, Royaume, Louis XV (1715-1774), AV louis d'or aux 2 L, 1721BB, Strasbourg. Flan neuf. D/ B. nu, lauré à d. R/ Deux L adossés sous une couronne, entre trois lis. Dupl-1635; Gad-337. 9,76 g Rare Légères traces d'ajustage et petite brisure du coin au revers. presque Superbe. Provient de notre vente 68, 15 décembre 2001, 1380. (kingdom of [[France], Louis XV, 1715-74, gold louis of the two "L's" of 1721, Strasbourg mint, new blank. Obverse: laureate nude bust right; reverse: two back-to-back "L's" under a crown between three lilies. Rare, light adjustment marks and die clash on the reverse. about Extremely Fine.)"

Dr/4 no. 797, Dr/2 no. 534, Fr-456, 9.79 g, .917 fine gold, 24-26 mm diameter, reeded edge, struck 1720-23. face value 54 livres, lowered to 39 livres 12 sols on demonetization (August 1723). 1721-BB: 54,863 fn + unknown rf. no premium.
