This specimen was lot 1433 in Jean Elsen sale 136 (Brussels, March 2018), where it sold for €1,300 (about US$1,908 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"FRANCE, Royaume, Louis XIV (1643-1715), AR écu de Flandre, 1685A, Paris. Dit "carambole". Différent: croissant. D/ B. dr. à d., coiffé d'une longue perruque. En dessous, petit gl. cr. R/ Ecu couronné, écartelé de France, Bourgogne moderne et Bourgogne ancien. Dupl-1509; Gad. 215; Delm. 419. 36,81 g Très rare Griffes au droit. Très Beau. (kingdom of France, Louis XIV, 1643-1715, silver écu of Flanders of 1685, Paris mint, called the "carambole", crescent privy mark. Obverse: armored bust to right in a long wig. Reverse: crowned arms of France, new Burgundy and old Burgundy. Very rare, scratches on obverse, very fine.)"
