This specimen was part of lot 29012 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), which sold for $1,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "Pair of Louis XV Sols (1/2 Sous Marqués), 1) 1740-A AU58 NGC, Paris mint, KM501.1, Vlack-295. Double-punched 4 in date. Obverse fairly lustrous, reverse more subdued with areas of dark toning. 2) 1740-D AU, Lyon mint, KM501.5, Vlack-300. Subdued luster. Cud above LUD, thin area of lamination across the center reverse. From the Doug Robins Collection of Canadian Tokens."

Gad-278: 1.09 g, .250 fine silver, 18 mm diameter, plain edge, designed by J. C. Roettiers, struck 1739-42, 1746, 1748, with many scarce dates. Dr/4 no. 861, Dr/2 no. 597. 1740-A m. est. 39,200; 1740-D m. 714,929, most common date.
