This specimen was lot 30738 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $1,997.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Louis XV gold Louis d'Or 1725-R UNC Details (Saltwater Damage) NGC, Orleans mint, KM-Unl, Fr-459, Gad-338. A superior example that was likely recovered from Le Chameau, a French sailing ship that wrecked off the coast of Nova Scotia in 1725. As such, the open fields appear satiny while the design elements are boldly defined throughout. Additionally, this coin was struck at the rarely encountered Orleans mint, making this historical selection all the more appealing."

mintage 45,943, a slightly better date.
