This specimen was lot 29656 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $734.38. The catalog description[1] noted, "Louis XV Ecu 1717-(9) MS62 NGC, Rennes mint, KM 414.25, Dav-1326. Featuring the young bust of Louis XV and the crowned arms of France, this offering presents a bit of softness to the central obverse motif, with otherwise strong definition throughout. Of note, there is minimal evidence of the previous strike that shows through and the overall cabinet patination is quite pleasing. A captivating example from all angles, seldom encountered at this level of Mint State, and rare as such."

écu vertugadin (1715-18), 30.39 g, .917 fine silver: Dr/4 no. 813: fn m. 1,103,012 plus 496,251 rf. Gad-317: R4 (fn), R2 (rf). 9 = Rennes.
