This specimen was lot 29400 in Heritage sale 3037 (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $2,350. The catalog description[1] noted, "Louis XV gold Louis d'or 1726-D MS64 NGC, Lyon mint, KM 489.6, Fr-461. A nearly flawless specimen with vibrant, golden surfaces and an exacting strike. Remnants of the under type are visible upon the reverse. Most engaging and highly pleasing in this deluxe quality." The marks noted in the description are not those of an undertype (this type was not struck over earlier types) but adjustment marks.
