This specimen was lot 281 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, July 2014), where it sold for $__. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE, Royal. Louis XV le Bien-Aimé (the Well-Beloved). 1715–1774. AR Écu de Navarre (38mm, 24.44 g, 6h). Paris mint; différents: clover/flower. Georges Röettiers, engraver. Jean Faubert, director. Dated 1718 A. Duplessy 1657; Ciani 2101; KM 435.1. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 66 Gem lustrous toned uncirculated. The only Écu of Louis XV of this type, or almost any type of French Écu, to reach this grade. Extremely rare so choice. Purchased from Randolph Zander, December 1969."
